James Felty is a Senior Nuclear Engineer and Program Manager at Sigma Science Inc. In this capacity, he is responsible for the Company’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Contracts at the NNSA Los Alamos Project Management Office and the Los Alamos Field Office, and the Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In addition, he is the Sigma Science Quality Assurance Manager.
He joined Sigma Science in August 2013 after leaving Leidos where he served as the senior nuclear criticality safety advisor to the Department of Energy (DOE) Nuclear Criticality Safety Program Manager for over 18 years. Prior to that, Felty retired from the United States Army where he served as a field artillery officer in the United States and the Republic of South Korea. He later served in his secondary specialty as a United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) licensed Senior Reactor Operator for a Department of Defense (DoD) one-megawatt pulsing TRIGA research reactor and Reactor Operations Supervisor, and as a nuclear weapons research and development associate at DOE Headquarters in Washington, DC.
Felty is a graduate of the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science in General Engineering, and the Air Force Institute of Technology with a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering.
